Ostriches are just modern-day dinosaurs!

It may sound like a far-fetched idea, but there are actually a surprising number of similarities between these two seemingly different species. From their powerful legs and sharp beaks to their scaly skin and long necks, ostriches share many characteristics with the prehistoric creatures that roamed the earth millions of years ago.

1. They’re huge! Ostriches can weigh up to 350 pounds and stand over 9 feet tall, making them some of the largest birds on the planet. Just like the dinosaurs of the past, they dominate their environment.

7. They have long necks. Ostriches have long, flexible necks that can reach up to 9 feet in length. This is similar to some of the long-necked dinosaurs, like the Brachiosaurus, which could reach up to 40 feet tall.
8. They’re fast runners. Ostriches can run up to 43 miles per hour, making them one of the fastest birds on the planet. This is similar to many dinosaurs, which were also known for their speed and agility.
9. They have sharp beaks. Ostriches have sharp, pointed beaks that they use to peck at food and defend themselves. This is similar to many carnivorous dinosaurs, which also had sharp teeth and claws for hunting.
10. They’re survivors. Ostriches have been around for over 50 million years, surviving through multiple mass extinctions and changing environments. This is similar to some of the dinosaurs that managed to survive the extinction event that wiped out the rest of their kind.
